ROMEOVILLE – The Village of Romeoville broke ground on construction of a new park this week. The new “Discovery Park,” located northwest of Aldi's along Airport Road, is 25 acres and costs $3 million and will be partially funded with a grant from the Open Space Land Acquisition & Development Program.
Along with a project adding 7.5 acres of open space near the Joliet Junior College campus, the village will be adding over 30 acres of developable park and recreation space. This means the village is increasing its sports fields by 50 percent.
“With these two park projects, we will have ample field space for the growing youth sports in our area,” said Romeoville Mayor John Noak in a press release.
