JOLIET – A 16-year-old teen was arrested by Joliet police Sunday after he was allegedly found with a handgun.
Police were dispatched to Black and Essington roads Sunday afternoon after a witness said they saw someone in the rear passenger seat of a car with a handgun, said Joliet Police Deputy Chief Ed Gregory.
The officers located and pulled over a black sport utility vehicle in the 1000 block of Kerry Lane, police said. The SUV was reportedly occupied by four teens, ages 15 through 17. The police allegedly found a black handgun in the area where the 16-year-old was seated.
All four teens were sent to the Joliet Police Department. Following an investigation, the 16-year-old was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and taken to River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
