Rockdale, Will County police respond to scene of death

ROCKDALE – Rockdale police were called to a home in the 900 block of Parkview Avenue in Rockdale on Thursday to investigate the death of a 75-year-old man, the resident of the adjacent home, Rockdale Police Chief Robert Dykstra said.

The 911 call, from a passerby, was made about 8 a.m. Thursday. Police arrived to find a body in the driveway of residence near the back of a vehicle, which a neighbor identified as a truck.

Because of physical evidence at the scene, Rockdale police called the Will County Major Crimes Task Force, Dykstra said. No determination has been made on the death at this point, and evidence is being examined.

The Will County Coroner’s Office also was called to the scene. An autopsy will be conducted Friday. The scene was cleared about 1 p.m.

Neighbor Bill Smith, who lives across the street from the home in question in the 900 block of Parkview Avenue, said that the door to the man’s truck was open when he was found. The truck was removed from the scene Thursday afternoon.
