JOLIET – Police responded to gunshots and arrested a man in connection with shooting at a tree after an altercation Saturday night. Joliet police received a call about 11 p.m. for shots fired in the 1000 block of Lois Place, Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton said. Officers arrived at the scene and checked the area.

They found Anthony V. Hobbs-Perrone, 25, of Westmont and recovered a handgun. He admitted to firing the gun in the parking lot after an altercation with another subject. The altercation appeared to have come about because of a problem with his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Benton said.

No damage was reported. Hobbs-Perrone was booked into the Will County jail at 2:18 a.m. Sunday, according to the Will County jail log, where he still is in custody. He was arrested on felony charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

He is expected in court Monday.
