JOLIET – A Chicago man allegedly attacked his girlfriend after the two got into an argument over food preparation, police said.
On Monday morning, Joliet police received a report of a domestic battery, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.
At the corner of Ingalls and Larkin Avenue, the officers met with the 30-year-old girlfriend of Ramon V. Ibanez, 27, of the 3100 block of South Ridgeway Avenue in Chicago, Gregory said.
The girlfriend alleged that Ibanez grabbed her by the shoulders and neck area, slapped her and threw her to the ground, Gregory said. Ibanez also allegedly grabbed her coat, ripping both pockets in an effort to get her car keys, he said.
Gregory said the girlfriend alleged that an argument between her and Ibanez started over food preparation. She said it turned physical when she wanted to leave and defuse the situation, he said.
Officers located Ibanez in the 1800 block of Venson Lane and arrested him on a charge of domestic battery, Gregory said. Ibanez was booked into the Will County jail.
