SHOREWOOD – A Shorewood man was arrested after he allegedly violated his bail bond by visiting his wife and preventing her from calling the police, authorities said.
At 6:10 a.m. Wednesday, Osvaldo Barrera, 30, of the 300 block of North Raven Road in Shorewood was arrested and booked into the Will County jail on charges of violation of bail bond and unlawful use of a black jack or knife. Barrera’s bond was set at $7,500.
It was the second time in four days Barrera ended up in jail on a violation of bail bond charge, according to the county jail log. He was ordered by a Will County judge to stay away from his wife or his home on Raven Road after his arrest
Oct. 20 on a domestic battery charge.
But on Feb. 10, Barrera allegedly went to his home and tried to prevent his wife from calling the police, according to a criminal complaint. He was arrested and jailed on a $5,000 bond. On Feb. 12, he posted bail.
Barrera is accused of hitting, pushing and punching his wife between Oct. 16 and 18. He entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of domestic battery and his case goes to jury trial on Feb. 27.
Barrera’s wife filed a protective order against him Oct. 20, alleging he hit her and insulted her for weeks, along with threatening to kill her and depriving her of sleep. The order was dismissed
Nov. 9 and she filed another protective order Feb. 14.
In her latest protective order, she accused of Barrera visiting her home on Feb. 9 and threatening to kill himself unless she “admitted” to having an affair, which she denied having.
“Osvaldo has been very verbally and physically abusive throughout our marriage. I have dealt with his abuse and cheating and drama, and I can’t take it anymore,” she alleged.
