JOLIET – A Chicago man was arrested for allegedly driving with his 4-year-old son in his lap and while his license was suspended, police said.
On Sunday evening, Deon Davis, 35, of the 4900 block of West Adams Street in Chicago was the subject of a citizen complaint alleging that he was driving his Jeep Cherokee with his 4-year-old son in his lap, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.
The officers located and stopped the car in the 2000 block of Capri Avenue and met with Davis, Gregory said. The officers reportedly saw he had his child in his lap and that his license had been suspended about nine years ago.
Gregory said the vehicle and child was released to his mother after she arrived on the scene. Davis was arrested and charged with endangering the life and health of a child and on an out-of-town warrant.
He was booked into the Will County jail on a $1,000 bond and he posted bail Monday afternoon.
