WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Joliet Slammers dropped their first two games of a weekend road series against Washington.
On Saturday, the Wild Things jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and hung on for a 5-4 victory. The day before, Washington captured an 8-4 win over Joliet.
In Saturday’s contest, the Slammers tried to rally by scoring four times in the sixth to pull within a run but the could get no closer. Travis Bolin went 2 for 4 to lead the visitors.
On Friday, Joliet scored three times in the eighth to rally for a 4-3 lead. But Washington answered with five runs in its half of the frame to capture the victory. Justin Garcia went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a homer, and Bolin also homered to drive in the other run for the Slammers, who had three hits.
