$42,000 in education grants funded for Valley View School District students

Grants fund innovation programs to enhance education

The Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation is helping to fund enhanced educational experiences for students in Valley View School District 365U through grants.

For the 2018-19 school year, the foundation, through donations from the community at various events, is able to fund 40 grants for about $42,800, according to a district news release.

“We are grateful to our community for their generous support of the foundation and these programs,” said Mike Lawler, president of the foundation. “One cannot imagine the extensive positive impact on the lives of our youth. Anyone who is able to observe the program in action [is] inspired.”

For the school year, there were 79 requests for grants submitted for nearly $85,000. Valley View administration was able to identify additional funding from alternative sources to support 24 grants for about $27,300. Sixty four of the 79 requested grants were funded. The Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation is an all-volunteer organization comprised of community leaders and has been actively supporting students of the district since 1994.
