Joliet man 1st winner in Forest Preserve’s monthly photo contest

Joseph Traina of Joliet is the first monthly winner in the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s 2018 Preserve the Moment contest.

He snapped the winning shot of two cedar waxwings playing tug of war with a piece of vegetation at Rock Run Preserve in Joliet.

His photo will compete with seven other monthly winners for top honors when the contest concludes on Dec. 31.

Honorable mentions were awarded to: Traina for his close-up photo of a blue-gray gnatcatcher; Eileen Capodice of Minooka for a water-logged beaver plowing through the river; Brandon Ward of Joliet for a female mallard duck in midquack; and Chris Ward of New Lenox for a delicate white trout lily in full bloom.
