The Plainfield Fire Protection District removed and assisted in flying an individual injured in a two-vehicle crash at Route 30 and 119th Street in Plainfield.
The two cars collided about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Illinois State Police said.
The flown individual was in critical condition, Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said.
The other person involved in the crash was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Stratton said.
Route 30 and 119th Street were shut down for about an hour during the state police investigation, Trooper DeAnn Falat said.
Police had yet to determine how the crash occurred as of Thursday afternoon, Falat said.
