Letter: DACA and the November primaries

To the Editor:

Well Ray [Malmgren], I won’t disappoint you by sitting and reading your false information. If you don’t like the facts about the current immigration, you don’t get to make things up or blame the Democrats. The Democrats have not been in control of the House or Senate for more than seven years.

That’s a long time for sitting on your hands and blaming others for things you should be taking care of President Donald Trump.

You mention Americans should support a stop to illegal immigration. But really it is one sector that has fed this process for decades. That is business. Everyone sees those nice orange tree trimming trucks of Asplundh going about their business. Did you know they were hit with a $96 million fine for hiring (and rehiring) illegal alien workers?

Let’s look deeper. In 2016 election cycles, they contributed $290,000 to Republican house and senate candidates. You want to guess how much they gave the Democrats?

You are right, it was zero. And there are so many more examples.

You also are right saying something needs to be done about immigration. It is going to affect millions of people. Many people were lured here by business. Blaming Democrats who can’t bring up legislation is only shifting the blame from the Republicans, where it belongs. Remember the speaker of the house who brings up legislation is Paul Ryan, preceded by John Boehner. And Mitch McConnell brings up legislation in the Senate. All fine members of the do-nothing Congress.
