Employees from Amazon’s Romeoville fulfillment center surprised students Wednesday at John J. Lukancic Middle School, also in Romeoville, with a “Breakfast Bananza.”

The school is among 100 schools that received a grant from Amazon to be part of the company’s Rise and Smile initiative – a program that incorporates a healthy breakfast into the school day, according to a news release from Amazon.

“We know students are better prepared to engage when they start their day with breakfast,” Principal Tricia Rollerson said.

Local associates delivered bananas and led students in activities Wednesday to celebrate the grant.
