Letter: More information on candidates needed

To the Editor:

I read your article about the local elections and have been hunting information about the candidates. The only one I found was one for the Joliet Junior College Board.

I did watch an informative YouTube video of four of the eight JJC candidates at a forum. Two of the present trustees sent messages to be read after the questioning. No other places seem to have information about the other candidates that I voted for in Shorewood and the Joliet High School and Troy Schools.

If it is best as you said in your article that everyone vote in these local elections, we should have an easy way to know our candidates.

I think that candidates should be required to have a list of all their qualifications, background policy ideas related to the position they are seeking. It should be at a site that everyone can access so voters will know these things before they vote.

I am not "fluent" in FaceBook but attempted to find some of the candidates there, without success. Perhaps it could be at the County Clerk's Office or some other easy to find site.

In presidential election years there is information everywhere for the "major" offices, but not these local ones. Intelligent voters need to have access to information at all levels.
