Lewis University in Romeoville will be hosting the Plane Pull event April 27 to raise money and awareness to benefit athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.
The competition is looking for teams to battle in pulling a 24-ton Republic Airways jet. The Plane Pull is 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. April 27 at the Lewis University Airport. Spectators are encouraged.
Each team must raise a minimum of $500 to participate. Teams consist of a maximum of 10 members but can choose to pull with fewer members if desired. Groups will compete to pull the plane 12 feet in the fastest time.
Teams will compete in three divisions: the open division, ideal for companies, school teams, friends and families; the public safety division; and the Lewis University Division.
All proceeds collected through the Plane Pull benefit the more than
23,000 traditional athletes and more than 17,000 young athletes participating with Special Olympics Illinois.
