Romeoville has been recognized with the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fifth consecutive year.
The Certificate of Achievement for the village’s comprehensive annual financial report is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to a news release.
“Transparency is extremely important in today’s world,” Romeoville Mayor John Noak said in the release. “We’re very proud that our financial reporting has been recognized five years in a row as being award winning.”
Romeoville’s annual report was judged to have met the highest standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to fully communicate its financial story.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving about 19,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the only national awards program in governmental and financial reporting.
