Venue owes concert patrons an apology

To the Editor:

A riot almost occurred at Shinedown’s recent concert in Tinley Park.

Section 102’s two exit points were closed off during the concert. Apparently, Shinedown’s management requested this and management security complied.

The problem was the two exits manned by security staff sent patrons to the other blocked exit to go to the restrooms. They sent us back and forth because they hadn’t been told that both exits were to be blocked.

Patrons were getting upset. They had to use restrooms badly and security refused to let us out nor did they give any reason because they weren’t informed. It got ugly, with pushing, shoving and threats by both patrons and a few security staff.

Finally we were informed of Shinedown management’s request. They didn’t know how long it would be. I asked security what the procedure was for an emergency if needed in this case. I wasn’t given an answer.

Security management failed patrons and their staff at all levels. There should have been an alternative exit provided for fire code and convenience of patrons. They put all of us in harm’s way with total disregard for safety and violated fire and evacuation codes. Lawsuits were threatened.

I just want an apology from security management and an admission that they screwed up, big time. They should apologize to staff as well.

An original ‘joke’

To the Editor:

A mass murderer, a serial rapist and an atheist all die and find themselves before God.

The Lord asks the mass murderer why he thinks he belongs in heaven. He responds by saying he repented. The Lord grants his wish.

The Lord then asks the serial rapist why he thinks he belongs in heaven. He says he seeks redemption. The Lord grants his wish also.

Finally, the Lord asks the atheist why he thinks he belongs in heaven. I hope to be forgiven he says. God says, not today scumbag, today you fry.

That’s a Wes original.

Trump comments not racist

To the Editor:

There was nothing racist about President Trump’s comments about four Congresswomen leaving our country. All four – Cortez, Omar, Pressley and Tlaib – hate our country. Time for AOC+3 to go. The four of them are the ones who are racist.

How anyone could vote for any of these women after hearing their policies for our country blows my mind. Voters, use your God-given brains and common sense before voting for any of these women. God save our country.

Have compassion for pets

To the Editor:

Recently in a city parking lot, another gentleman and I played the part of Good Samaritans to an enclosed car with a dog barking inside. The other Good Samaritan took down the license plate numbers and called the police. After making the call, he had to leave and asked me to wait for the police. Finally, the police arrived and thanked me for hanging around. People, have compassion for your pets. They have a soul, like you and me.
