"She was very playful," Kristen said, recalling Molly's puppy days. She'd eat everything and she was very stubborn - her breed is a stubborn breed. And she loved to be with us."
Although Kristen had pets growing up, Molly was unique in other ways and not just because she helped Kristen through the infertility.
"It was our first pet as a married couple," Kristen said.
It was also the start of some great family photos like the photo of Kristopher, the parakeets and Molly, with Molly sniffing the birds. Molly was very accepting of the parakeets.
"She didn''t try to get them," Kristen said. "But she did play with them while they were flying around."
Molly also loved toys with squeakers.
"She would take the squeaker out of all the toys," Kristen said. "And then she would play with the squeakers."
When the Koppers' son Jakob came along in 2009, Molly was initially not quite so accepting of him.
"She was a little jealous at first and then she became his protector," Kristen said. "She slept in his room under the crib. And anywhere he went in the house she would go."
