Yoga isn't new, but group sessions of yoga in neighborhood parks or in taverns or as fundraisers – Living Water Yoga in Joliet (pictured above in 2016) has held yoga benefits for animal rescue groups as well as NAMI Will-Grundy, which supports people with mental illness - is increasing.
The Cancer Support Center in Mokena offers a weekly yoga class and several area libraries also host yoga classes. The Mokena Public Library, for instance, offers "Intro to Yoga" and "Happy Back Yoga."
River Hawk Brewing in Channahon offers "Yoga Class Plus A Glass:" 60 minutes of yoga and one complimentary serving of "anything River Hawk has on tap," according to its Facebook event.
Jenny Fryman, who's married to Dustin Fryman, one of the owners of River Hawk Brewing in Channahon, said "Yoga Class Plus A Glass" attracts between 20 and 40 attendees each time.
The facilitator, Robyn Bumgarner, had approached River Hawk and asked if the brewing company would like to offer the class, Jenny said.
"We said we'd give it a shot," Jenny said. "It can't hurt anything. "As far as I know, we'll keep offering it as long as we have people coming,"
